IPOVCON 2024 is a poverty conference that serve as invaluable platform for exchanging and sharing practices by bringing together scholars, experts, policymakers, non-government offices, and advocates from around the world to discuss strategies for tackling poverty, best practices for an effective sustainable solution, and fostering partnerships as a best way to venture innovations for a robust anti-poverty initiative. The confab will feature research, best practices, and community-based programs from various Higher Education Institutions, Local Government Units, frontline agencies, and private organizations, which will highlight research-based categories: Oral and Poster Presentations and Short Film Documentaries. This collective knowledge-sharing will undoubtedly inspire new ideas, foster meaningful partnerships, and drive tangible outcomes to champion SDG 1 (No Poverty).
Samar State University continues to pursue its quest to combat poverty globally. The involvement of multisectors such as State Universities and Colleges, National Government Agencies (NGA) and Local Government Units (LGU), and other stakeholders have a pivotal role in the formulation, empowerment, implementation and coordination of equally important community-based poverty reduction programs. This year, IPOVCON 2024 have partnered with sixteen (16) State University Colleges (SUCs) nationwide and two (2) International Higher Education Institute, five (5) NGAs, and two (2) LGUs are joining together to conduct this conference.
To break the cycle of poverty, inclusive growth strategies are put up by various organizations, governments, agencies, policymakers, and programs to improve impoverished people’s access to necessities such as clean water, healthcare, education, and employment. Respective strategies and programs need to harmonize and build strong convergence with each welfare program. In
addition, these will enhance economic growth and delimit inequalities with the provision of essential social services directed to the poor while creating a social safety net.
The Samar State University, with its Co-Host, the Southern Leyte State University and its Key Collaborators, will hold 5th International and 8th National Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development on October 16-17, 2024 at Tacloban City. The conference will feature best practices and research from various Higher Education Institutions, Local Government Units, frontline agencies, and private organizations.
The confab continuously aims of having a cohesive and venture-driven innovation towards integrated and multidimension eradication of any nature of poverty and to build systematic guidance for each pro-poor sector. The success of the previous conference started to leave imprints on Samar State University, which invites multisector and welfare programs to hand over effective countermeasure strategies involving various parties in an integrated manner. It has already reached thousands of participants and multisector globally since it aims to conduct a poverty conference seeking to achieve and enhance a wider impact and more in- depth discussion of the global poverty dilemma through research-based analysis. The University continuously aims to consolidate solutions that everyone could adopt for the goal of achieving “Maginhawang Buhay” in the country’s Ambisyon 2040 where no one is poor and no one is ever hungry.
